Getting your first tattoo is exciting. It's also completely normal to feel a little nervous. Whether you've been planning your tattoo for years or finally decided it's time, a little preparation can help make your experience smooth and enjoyable.

Eat Before Your Appointment

Never arrive on an empty stomach. Eating a balanced meal beforehand helps keep your energy up and can make the experience much more comfortable.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your appointment. Healthy, hydrated skin is easier to tattoo and supports the healing process.

Get Plenty of Rest

A good night's sleep can help you stay relaxed and make sitting through your appointment much easier.

Wear the Right Clothing

Choose comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. If you're getting a thigh tattoo, wear shorts. If it's an upper arm tattoo, wear a tank top or loose-fitting shirt.

Bring Your ID

A valid government-issued photo ID is required for every appointment. Be sure to bring it with you.

Avoid Alcohol and Recreational Drugs
